Nichola Joss is one of the beauty industry’s most revered skincare, self tanning and nail experts. Not only has her advice and work been featured in some of the world’s most prominent women’s magazines such as Vogue, In Style and Marie Claire, Nichola is the beauty therapist of choice for a bevy of A-list beauties such as Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, Gisele Bundchen and Gwyneth Paltrow. Best known for her miraculous lymphatic drainage massage facials, Nichola is one of the few therapists who can literally tone and improve the texture of skin with a mere wave of her hands.
Nichola’s fascination with skin is something she developed as a child through watching the women in her family fuss over cleansing, creams and skincare. While most therapists today would have been content with a beauty diploma, Nichola went on to earn a degree in biology and physiology shortly after, so that she could fully understand the holistic entirety of beauty therapy. Upon completing her studies, Nichola moved to Malaysia where she did a one-on-one apprenticeship with a local lymphatic drainage therapist. For the next several years, Nichola trained in these specific pressure techniques, proven to aid the detoxification of the body, the regeneration of skin tissue, boost the body’s immune system and have anti-aging effects.
When Nichola returned to the UK, her reputation as a fantastic beauty therapist in Scotland grew quickly, thanks to word of mouth recommendations from friends and clients. As her freelance career skyrocketed, she decided to move to London and scored her first editorial job with top-class fashion photographer Michel Comte when he needed a manicurist at the last minute. From then on, Nichola would be in high demand.To date, she has worked with top photographers like Craig McDean, Terry Richardson and Patrick Demarchelier, and backstage at fashion shows for designers Roland Mouret, Carlos Miele and Matthew Williamson . As a beauty therapist, Nichola combines all of her experience to create well informed, bespoke treatments that yield immediate results, and have her clients coming back for more. She believes in tailoring each facial and massage to the clients’ specific needs, carefully selecting the right products to achieve the right purpose. Yet of all her accomplishments, Nichola counts working with the world’s most famous actresses as the highlight of her career. “It is fantastic working with these talented women who have such amazing screen presence, and even more amazing skin!”
For the last few years Nichola has been working as creative skincare and tanning global ambassador for St tropez. Nichola also works with QVC America and does regular pop up beauty spas in New York City. She has now joined Serge Normant doing her bespoke facial and body treatments as well as her tanning treatments in New York.
